She's one of the world's most beautiful stars... so why does Katherine Heigl insist on dressing like a middle-aged woman?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Lamb-dressed-as-mutton: Katherine Heigl, pictured in LA today with husband Josh Kelley, seems to favour a rather middle-aged style for her off-duty look, often sporting a mostly grey or beige palette

She's a knockout on film, stunning on the red carpet and is widely considered to be one of the world's most beautiful women.

But recent pictures of Katherine Heigl in real life have shown her looking rather less youthful than the screen siren we are so familiar with.

Though she has flawless skin and a face and body most other women would kill for, the 32-year-old star appears to have a penchant for a somewhat middle-aged style.

Old before her time: Ms Heigl on Tuesday last week (left), on Sunday (centre) and last month (right) is just 32, but she looks like she has raided her mother's wardrobe

Beige seems to be her go-to colour with sensible shirts and belted trousers forming the core of her wardrobe.

An despite the sunny climes of LA where she lives with her husband and adopted daughter Naleigh, she always covers up in drapey shapes, jackets and boots.

Of course, no-one could accuse Ms Heigl of committing any fashion sins. She plays it far too safe for that - but given the means at her disposal, she could have a lot more fun with her off-duty look.

Understated: The actress, pictured in March at a restaurant in Los Feliz, often wears shapeless grey garments

Making the effort: It seems the star can look fabulous when she wants to, such as on the red carpet at the Oscars in 2008 (left) and at last year's Country Music Awards (right)

Fashion writer and stylist Siam Goorwich told MailOnline that the star has no excuse not to make more effort.

She said: 'It's beyond me how anyone in Hollywood can fail to look good.
