He WILL be back! Arnold Schwarzenegger's Hollywood return back on two months after love child scandal

The scandal that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered a love child only broke two months ago.

But already, all is forgiven - in Hollywood, at least.

The 63-year-old is to star in an 'old-fashioned Western' film, Last Stand, in his big screen comeback.

The former California Governor halted discussion for another Terminator movie to focus on his personal life after the news of his affair with housekeeper Mildred Baena emerged.

With his divorce from wife Maria Shriver now under way, the action star has now resumed plans with film studio Lionsgate, but rather than donning the leather to return as his iconic character, Schwarzenegger is signing on to the Jee-woon Kim directed adventure.

'It's an old-fashioned Western specifically designed for a 63-year-old broken-down guy with a moral decision whether Arnold decides to stand up for his town,' a Lionsgate executive told Deadline. 'We always needed an iconic figure for it.'

Jee-woon Kim directed 2008's The Good, the Bad, the Weird. The Lionsgate source said of the film: 'It's a property which a zillion directors fell in love with.'

Schwarzenegger turned his back on Hollywood eight years ago for politics, but began hinting at a comeback as his final term as Governor wound down.

Speaking to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung in January, he said: 'In the future I have to adapt my roles to my age. Clint Eastwood also has done it in the same way.
Extreme fighting or shooting is not possible any more.

'I want to be more encouraged as an actor and I believe that I can manage this challenge. I am like a sponge, which is absorbing all the knowledge and always be willing to learn all new things.'

In April it was widely reported that Arnold was in talks to return in Terminator 5, with Fast five director Justin Lin at the helm.

But those discussions were shelved when the actor became embroiled in a messy split from wife of 25 years after it emerged that he had fathered the son of the family housekeeper Mildred Baena, who was born within days of his son Patrick.

Personal life: The former Governor is currently embroiled in a divorce from wife Maria Shriver

It emerged this week that Shriver, 55, has purchased a $10million house a few miles from her former martial home.

The estranged couple officially began divorce proceedings in recent weeks, with Shriver reported to be asking for spousal support.

Arnold is said to be work between $500 million and $700 million meaning that Maria could walk away with up to $350 million when the divorce is finalised.
