Gloria Estefan wears Kate Winslet's optical illusion dress (but it doesn't have quite the same effect...)

Popular design: Gloria Estefan, pictured here at The Grove in LA today left, wore the same Stella McCartney dress as Kate Winslet at the Venice Film Festival on Friday

Kate Winslet cut a stunning figure as she graced the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival in an incredibly flattering optical illusion dress.

And today Gloria Estefan tried her luck with the same Stella McCartney design, which cleverly redraws the silhouette using dark panels at the sides to narrow the waist.

The Queen Of Latin Pop wore the frock to The Grove shopping centre in LA today for an interview with Extra host Mario Lopez and opted to team it with a white bolero jacket and beige heels.

the dress didn't have quite the same effect on the curvy 54-year-old as it did on Kate, 35, Gloria looked confident with the result as she strutted through the outdoor mall.

Estefan, who is based in Miami, is promoting her new record Miss Little Havana, which will be released on September 27.

It is the Turn The Beat Around singer's her first English-language album since 2003 and it is expected to see her return to her dance music roots.

She said this week: 'My fans have been asking for a new dance record, and I hope they will enjoy the music as much as I enjoyed writing and recording it.'

Her solo hits include Cuts Both Ways, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You and Everlasting Love.
