Big night: Paul McCartney and his bride-to-be Nancy Shevell arrive at the premiere of the former Beatle's new ballet, Ocean's Kingdom in New York tonight

It may have been her future husband's big night, but Paul McCartney's bride-to-be stole the show at the world premiere of the 69-year-old's new ballet Ocean's Kingdom, this evening.

The future Mrs McCartney looked sensational as she slipped into a daring backless sequined black dress at the event during New York City Ballet's 2011 Fall Gala.

The revealing frock languished dangerously at the very bottom of the beautiful brunette's back, showing off her fabulous slim figure.

At first glance, the cocktail attire appeared to be rather conservative with it's long-sleeve and high neckline, but as Nancy turned around, the dazzling effect was on show for all to see.

And it appears that the already slim businesswoman has been hitting the gym in preparation for her impending nuptials, as her back was supremely toned.

The 51-year-old paired the look with some strappy sandals and wore minimal jewels, including a pair of drop diamond earrings and a brooch to the side of her waist.

While she wowed with her dress, the American native made sure to go minimal with her make-up, and wore her glossy tresses in a natural style.

Her future hubby Paul looked dapper for his big night in a black slim line suit, paired with a crisp white shirt and skinny tie.

Sir Paul, 69, and his American fiance are set to wed at the same venue at which he married his first wife Linda McCartney over 40 years ago - Westminster Register Office in London.

The former Beatle recently posted banns at the Westminster branch, meaning they could marry there as soon as next month.

His fiancee has said it will be a ‘small family affair’ in contrast to the lavish £1.5 million ceremony when he married second wife Heather Mills.

Legally, the couple have a year from October 1 to marry in the venue, which is based in Marylebone Town Hall and is more commonly known as Marylebone Register Office.

If they decide to wed elsewhere, they have to post new banns.

All couples are required to give 16 days notice of their intention to marry.

In the document, Sir Paul describes his profession as a ‘business executive’ while his future wife — a multi-millionaire from her family transport business — says she is an ‘executive’.

Meanwhile Liv Tyler looked stunning in a black strapless lace gown, which accentuated her tall and slim frame perfectly.

She accessorised the romantic dress with a pair of simple satin stilettos and wore her hair out, curled to the side.

Sarah Jessica Parker also opted for lace, slipping her tiny frame into an asymmetrical cream ensemble paired with some olive green suede heels and a giant corsage pinned to the front of her dress, Carrie-style.

Opting for a tried and true Hollywood style, actress Naomi Watts was a dream in a cream pants suit.

The 42-year-old look stylish in the vest and fashion forward wide leg trousers, which she paired with a cream and gold clutch.

Confection: Sir Paul's daughter Stella looked stunning in one of her own creations, a black halterneck sheer dress adorned with bows as she posed with her husband Alasdhair Willis

Jerry Seinfeld's wife Jessica meanwhile was dazzling in a black sheer shift embellished with gold paillettes, which she paired with some Christian Louboutin stilettos and a bright yellow snakeskin clutch.

Sir Paul's daughter Stella turned out in one of her own creations, a black halterneck sheer frock adorned with bows.

Posing on the arms of her husband Alasdhair Willis, she paired the confection with navy acetate clutch.

Cute couple: Dorothea Bon Jovi and husband singer Jon Bon Jovi went for a more monochrome look for the black-tie event

As well as being the entire score for the New York City Ballet's commissioned act, 'Ocean's Kingdom' is the fifth classical album by Sir Paul.

The ballet, which premiered this evening, is said to be about a love story based in two worlds.

'Love happens when earth meets water, and 'you'll have to see whether the couple make it,' Paul says of the performance.
