The 42-year-old actor appeared in Washington D.C. today to lobby for drug court funding.
The years seem to have taken a toll on the former Friends star, however, as he looked exhausted, grey and overweight a she spoke during the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and the House Addiction, Treatment and Recovery Caucus.
His appearance was a far cry from that of happy-go-lucky Chandler Bing, the youthful character he played on NBC from 1994-2004.
Life has not imitated art for the actor; his life has not been easy and as a result, his weight has fluctuated wildly.
He completed a 28-day programme in 1997 for Vicodin addiction in 1997

Crazy hair: The 42-year-old actor looks a bit disconcerted in Washington D.C. He then lost 20 pounds in 2000 because of pancreatitis and additional weight in 2001 after entering rehab for an addiction to opioids and alcohol.
He was hospitalised again in 2002 while shooting Serving Sara with Elizabeth Hurley and checked himself into a rehab facility in Marina del rey, California.
His career has been patchy over the last few years as well.

The star isn't destitute, though: he recently purchased another Sunset Strip home for $8.65 million.
