Foxy lady: Katie Holmes opted for a sexy sheer blouse at the premiere of Jack and Jill in Westwood, Los Angeles, tonight

Her career is benefiting from a delightful gust of second wind, so it's unsurprising that Katie Holmes was prepared to brave the blustery rain to attend the premiere of her latest movie, Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill, tonight.

And the 32-year-old survived the inclement Californian weather in some style, having chosen to wear an uncharacteristically risque diaphanous magenta blouse and bondage-inspired heels

It worked beautifully on the statuesque brunette, despite ducking low at the front and over Katie's cleavage then offering that translucent thrill.

It helped that Holmes, who is a fashion designer herself, paired the outre garment with a demure black skirt which enthusiastically nodded towards Audrey Hepburn.

The mother-of-one looked more like the winsome beauty she played in teen drama Dawson's Creek so many years ago than the semi-domesticated wife of an A-lister.

The sexy top is a marked departure from the girlish and casual outfits she's chosen in the past, often to walk the carpet with her husband Tom Cruise, 49.

Katie and the couple's daughter Suri, five , have been supporting their main man on the set of his latest film, One Shot, in Pittsburgh.

They were spotted shivering on the sidelines as Tom performed action scenes as Jack Reacher, a casting that has been criticised by fans of the Lee Child novel from which it's been adapted.

So perhaps Katie took the opportunity to wear a skimpy outfit in the comparatively clement LA climate.

It is certainly an exciting night for the actress, who is making waves again after taking a back seat to focus on raising Suri.

She's just had a highly rated cameo in How I Met Your Mother, and in this latest Sandler caper, Katie plays his beatific, long-suffering wife, Erin.

The comedy revolves around the comedian's character, Jack Murray, receiving a visit from his much-loathed twin sister, Jill

He initially tries to avoid spending time with her, but his wife - played by Holmes - forces them to play nicely and they end up realising how much they actually like one another.

Sandler, naturally, plays both Jack and Jill and is in drag for much of the movie.

The legendary Al Pacino, 71 , also stars in the film, as a love-interest to Sandler's Jill.

In addition to Sandler's on-set shenanigans, Holmes can credit daughter Suri to the blast she had on set.

During her down time, the actress spent time with her 5-year-old mini-me, taking time to visit a petting zoo and play with rabbits.

The family also spent time in Florida while Tom filmed Rock of Ages with Russell Brand.

Katie was spotted enjoying the ocean with her daughter and has talked recently of all the places she wishes to visit with the youngster.
