Laying low: Kim Kardashian goes into hiding to avoid divorce fallout

By Marcus Barnes

Fallout: Kim Kardashian has taken the unusual step of taking herself out of the public spotlight in the wake of her decision to divorce Kris Humphries

Kim Kardashian has placed herself under house arrest at a secret location to attempt to ride out the fallout from her divorce decision.

Sources close to the publicity-loving reality star have revealed that she will be staying indoors until she begins filming on the Tyler Perry movie, Marriage Counsellor.

That means she will miss her mother's birthday dinner, and brother-in-law Lamar Odom's birthday meal as well.

It's over: The socialite filed for divorce last Monday after just 72 days of marriage

According to TMZ the attention surrounding her because of the divorce is too much for her, and she's laying low until it dies down.

Only her family and a few close friends know where she is.

And she hasn't spoken to Kris Humphries since the pair parted.

The couple are said to have given each other the silent treatment since Kim filed for divorce on Monday.

Though it had been reported to the contrary, U.S. website TMZ claims sources close to Kim, 31, confirmed there has been no contact between them.

According to TMZ's sources, the couple made a mutual decision not to communicate and that any immediate communication will be handled through their reps.

The website also spoke to Kim's mother Kris Jenner and she told them she hasn't spoken to Kris H either since the split.

And the Kardashian clan have reportedly banned U.S. channel E! from screening anything to do with Kim's divorce drama in their reality show.

Sources apparently told TMZ that Kim does not want cameras to document the private, emotional moments behind her divorce.

It's claimed the socialite will not be shooting any footage for Keeping Up with the Kardashians until the beginning of next year and is insisting she does not want to exploit the 'real' moments behind the divorce on TV.

It's said that she will most likely acknowledge the split when filming picks up again but all of the behind-the-scenes divorce-related drama will not air on the show.

Meanwhile Kim's mother Kris Jenner says her daughter will keep her $2 million engagement ring.

NBA star Kris Humphries was hoping to get the 20.5 carat diamond back from his now estranged wife, according to sources.

However, Kim's mother and manager Kris Jenner, 55, has nixed the idea.

'It’s a gift - you keep a gift,' Jenner, the shrewd matriarch of the Kardashian clan, told Good Morning America while promoting her new memoir.

Jenner said Kim's decision to file for divorce on Monday came 'after a lot of heartache.'

She's keeping it: Kris Jenner told host Lara Spencer that Kim will keep her $2 million engagement ring during an appearance on Good Morning America

She said: 'Kim's dream [was] to get married and have babies, and raise a family - that’s all she’s ever wanted.'

Jenner hopes her daughter will soon heal from her heartache.

'Kim hasn’t been the Kim I know,' Jenner said. 'She seemed worried, not her happy self. I want Kim back - I want her to be happy.'

Jenner has previously insisted that reports of Kim making a large profit from the wedding - a rumoured $10 million - were false.

She insisted her daughter 'didn't make a dime' from the nuptials.

In a message on her blog on Tuesday, Kim said she 'donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation.'
