Looking dotty: American actress Emma Stone shows off her pins in a polka-dot dress at the London premiere of The Help

In her latest film The Help, Emma Stone's character Skeeter is known for her frizzy hair and lack of fashion knowledge.

But the actress certainly didn't need any help when it came to getting ready for the movie's London premiere last night.

The redheaded actress, 22, showed off her pins in a sexy slit polka-dot dress as she joined her co-stars Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis at a pre-screening party at the Washington Hotel before the premiere at the Curzon Mayfair.

The film - adapted from Kathryn Stockett's 2009 novel of the same name - stars Stone as a young university graduate struggling to establish herself as a writer in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, in the 1960s.

Devastated by the mysterious disappearance of her African American maid Constance, Skeeter soon finds herself growing increasingly uncomfortable by her white friends' treatment of their 'help'.

She forms a friendship with her friends' maids Aibileen (Davis) and Minny (Spencer) which will change their lives forever.

It's a bit windy: Stone struggled to keep her composure as a gust of wind disturbs her dress

Speaking at last night's premiere at the Curzon Mayfair, Stone admitted she was attracted to the role of Skeeter because it was so much meatier than other roles in Hollywood for actresses of her age.

She said: 'I like any role that feels human and alive and not just the girl or the comedic relief or something boxed in and stereotyped.

'It was really great that I not just wanted to be part of the movie, but got to be a part of it.'

Girl power: Davis (left) wore a sleek purple gown with plunging neckline, while Spencer went for a pretty blue and purple floral number

Stone admitted Skeeter's famously uncontrollable curls - which causes her mother much ire - was just a wig.

She explained: 'I put it on in the morning and I took it off at the end of the night.

'My hair is stick, stick straight and I look like a drowned rat in humidity, so I was actually really appreciative of those curls.'

Hold onto that trolley! Emma Stone totters around the supermarket in towering heels

By Daily Mail Reporter

Red hot deals: Emma Stone turned heads in her bright red stiletto heels yesterday as she stocked up on groceries from Bristol Farms in Beverly Hills

There was no mistaking Emma Stone for your average supermarket shopper.

The 22-year-old Spiderman actress stood out as she stocked up on groceries yesterday dressed in a striking pair of sexy red stilettos.

And Emma’s choice of grocery shopping attire did not go unnoticed as she dutifully pushed her trolley outside into the sunshine.

Teaming a pair of figure hugging black skinny jeans with an oversized beige suit jacket, Emma vamped-up her casual day look by adding a pair of scarlet red open toe sling back stilettos.

The blonde beauty looked every inch the achingly-hip Hollywood actress she has so quickly become, but cut a refreshingly sharp contrast with her tan-less, clear porcelain complexion.

And her choice of red footwear isn't the only place the tiny actress likes to see the colour.

She recently told Glamour magazine she's no intention of depriving herself as she is a big fan of red velvet cake.

Trolley dolly: Emma pushes her loaded grocery cart out to her car with friends

She said: 'You’re a human being, you live once and life is wonderful, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake.'

And she was clearly sticking to her word yesterday as her choice of fine wines and edible goodies from the Bristol Farms store looked set to ensure she and her friends enjoy a deliciously indulgent weekend.

The Zombieland star had also treated herself to a slap-up feast two days earlier at the LA meat-lovers retreat, Fogo de Chao, with singer and close friend, Taylor Swift.

Emma says her mother is a big influence in her life, and judging from the tiny star's loaded cart, her mother did a fine job of teaching her daughter to always keep her kitchen cupboards well stocked.

When discussing her mother, Emma told Glamour: She is the greatest person on earth.

She always helps me deal with things as they happen instead of planning them all out ahead of time.'

She added: 'But that’s one of 600 billion pieces of advice she’s given me.'
