Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he still loves Nicole Scherzinger and still hopes they could get back together.

The Formula One star and the pop singer split up last month after four years together as the strain of barely seeing each other took its toll.

It is understood that Hamilton's failure to commit to starting a family further undermined their relationship and forced them apart.


The break-up resulted in Hamilton adopting a negative attitude and, combined with poor results and incidents on the track, the 26-year-old has cut a forlorn figure for a number of weeks.

That appeared to be underlined this week when pictures were published of what looked like a frosty reunion in a Los Angeles car park between him and US X-Factor judge Scherzinger.

But as he prepared for this Sunday's final race of the F1 season, the Brazilian Grand Prix, in Sao Paulo, he said that could not be further from the truth.

Sporting a long black set of rosary beads overlaid with white gold given to him by his ex as a present in LA, Hamilton said of the photographs: 'Well, they didn't catch us at the best of times.

'What you didn't see is that we had a really good week, a couple of really nice lunches together. We had a really nice dinner together.

'It's very early days and we still have very strong feelings for one another. I still love her very much.

'So, who knows? Maybe we will be together in the future.'

Hamilton's trip to the United States also included a visit to New York in which he 'got to hang with Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz in the studio, which was really cool'.

Hamilton could now not be more upbeat ahead of the weekend, saying: 'I'm very much here in a positive frame of mind.

'I am very happy to be here, I've great memories of being here in the past.

'Actually she (Scherzinger) was here with me when I won the world championship (in 2008), so I've very good memories.

'But certainly it was a really positive few days which meant more to me than a race win, so I came away from LA feeling great and things are different, so that's cool.

'I've a lot of positive energy at the moment.'

Nicole Scherzinger may have been left heartbroken after her split from Lewis Hamilton, who was apparently not ready to settle down, but there are plenty of other offers on the table.

And the 33-year-old received one when she least expected it, when a lovesick fan rushed up to the judges table during filming for the talent show - and got down on one knee.

In a video recorded at the studio, a man can be seen offering his hand in marriage in front of the audience.

The former Pussycat doll, who dated the 26-year-old Formula One ace for four years, actually looked touched.

But the Hungarian made who so ardently professed his affection, was nevertheless bundled away by security and escorted from the CBS lot.

Nicole was recently seen having what appeared to be an awkward meeting with her ex-boyfriend Lewis.

The pair split in October, just three months after rumours that they were heading down the aisle started to circulate - with confirmation from her own father.

Alfonso Valiente, who is based on the judge's home island of Hawaii, said that the British star had proposed and referred to him as 'my future son-in-law.'

But a hasty denial was forthcoming from Scherzinger via her Twitter account and over the next few months, the couple were spotted on several occasions looking stony-faced.

Then the news that they had split was made public.

Reports said he wasn't ready to settle down and have children, but the driver has already given hope that the pair could reconcile and said he still loves the singer.

Speaking about the photographs from their meeting earlier this week he said: 'What you didn't see is that we had a really good week, a couple of really nice lunches together. We had a really nice dinner together.'

'It's very early days and we still have very strong feelings for one another. I still love her very much.

'So, who knows? Maybe we will be together in the future.'

Back in 2009 Nicole told the paper: 'I am the happiest I have ever been. Lewis is such an amazing, humble and chivalrous guy. We would love to have beautiful angel babies together one day.'

Lewis spoke to the paper about the split but confirmed the pair are still friends.

He said: 'Yeah, we're friends at least and we can move forward. It's never easy going through tough times.

'It's these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it's about how you pull through them.'

And Scherzinger seems to be pulling through in style, looking incredible on the Fox show, she told Shape magazine recently that she's truly come to terms with her own body.

But it wasn't always the case, she said: 'By the time I was in the Pussycat Dolls, I was on the scale all the time.

'It became my enemy because I noticed that when I exercised really hard, I'd gain weight.

'Now that I'm in my 30s, I've stepped off the scale - I just go by how my clothes fit.

'I'm more accepting of my body and have learned to really embrace it.

Despite having abs that you can bounce a coin off of, Scherzinger claims she eats huge amounts.

'Actually, I eat - a lot!' she tells the US fitness magazine. 'Even with my crazy schedule, I never skip meals.

'I'll often have soft-boiled eggs, smoked salmon and whole wheat toast for breakfast; cold cuts, veggies and fruit for lunch; and usually chicken or fish with rice and more vegetables for dinner.'

As Nicole Scherzinger leaned in to embrace her ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton with a warm hug, the F1 driver kept his distance, not reciprocating the gesture.

The tense encounter made a sorry sight in a Los Angeles car park.

It appeared that while Nicole was making an effort to break the palpable ice, Lewis was having none of it, and maintained a stand-offish demeanor.

The 26-year-old stared at the ground during most of their meeting.

Nicole's eyes tried to meet his gaze, but Lewis continued to look away, brushing off her anguished looks.

The couple — whose four year relationship ended last month — shared an awkward silence as they seemed caught at odds.

Nicole recently opened up to Shape about how she has learned to accept her body after years of doubt over her appearance.

'I started jogging and counting calories when I was just 14. I've been on every diet you can imagine,' she admitted.

Now the former Pussycat Doll has replaced Mad Men star Christina Hendricks as the face of U.S. outerwear label London Fog.

With her seemingly endless legs and come-hither gaze, the star, 33, looks every inch the supermodel in the new campaign, which will appear in magazines from next month.


But of course her super-toned physique is a far cry from the sexy curves of Ms Hendricks, 36, who has become a poster girl for the average women, who, like her, wears a U.S. size 14.

Dari Marder, chief marketing officer at Iconix Brand Group, which owns London Fog, explained why it was time to replace the Mad Men star.

She told WWD: 'Christina Hendricks was fantastic for us, but she was more classic and tailored. Nicole is a little more modern and contemporary. She has a really fierce sense of style.

'With X Factor, this is her moment and it brings the brand to the forefront of the consumer’s mind.'

Miss Scherzinger, it appears, is just as much of a fan of London Fog.

She told the publication: 'I love trenchcoats and London Fog coats are timeless.'

The singer follows in the footsteps of Gisele and Eva Longoria in modelling for the brand. But Ms Hendricks' was one of the most popular to date, given that the company had just featured on Mad Men.

London Fog featured in the opening episode of the third series of Mad Men last year, as a client of fictional ad agency Sterling Cooper.

In a conversation with Don Draper and Bert Cooper, the British CFO of the company, Lane Pryce describes the name of the company as 'ludicrous'.

'There is no fog in London. There is no London fog,' he says. 'Never was. It was the coal dust from the industrial era… Charles Dickens and whatnot.'

It is a perfect reference in historical terms. London Fog, which was founded in 1923, made waterproof clothing for the U.S. Navy during World War II.

The brand became a favourite with U.S. shoppers for its raincoats in the Fifties, which were the first to have a patented removable liner, and by the Seventies, two-thirds of all raincoats sold in the U.S. were London Fog.

The 26-year-old F1 racing driver - who is seven years younger than his erstwhile girlfriend -decided to call time on their relationship because their conflicting work schedules meant they were seeing less and less of each other.

The sportsman and Miss Scherzinger - who rose to fame as part of the Pussycat Dolls pop group - had been dating for four years.

A friend said: ‘They are still very good friends and it was an amicable split, but they just decided it was impossible to keep the relationship going with such conflicting work schedules.’

As a result, she is based in Los Angeles, California.

Hamilton, meanwhile, travels all over the world as one of the leading drivers in F1.
Yesterday, he was at an event for his driving team Mclaren.

She later updated her followers again by tweeting: ‘And I haven’t forgotten abt my UK fans! I’ll be back in London 2 perform at the opening of Westfield Stratford City on Sept 13!’
