Kellan Lutz's secret to getting the body of a Greek god... 16 eggs a day (and LOTS of exercise)

Kellan Lutz managed to pack on 25lbs of lean muscle to play the role of a Greek god in his upcoming movie, Immortals.

The Twilight actor, seen here posing shirtless on the cover of the U.S. Men's Fitness magazine, got up to 220lbs - thanks to a high-protein diet and a rigorous workout regime.

Sharing his fitness tips with the publication, Lutz said he would eat 16 eggs a day in the lead-up to shooting and do insane outdoor exercise, that included throwing huge rocks around and doing countless push-ups.

But Kellan, who used to date 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord, insists he is no gym junkie.

In a behind-the-scenes video of his Men's Fitness shoot, the 26-year-old actor says he likes to make up his workouts as he goes along.

'I don't really like the gym. I like to fool my body,' he said, referring to his spontaneous outdoor workout regimes.

'I run around the beach and then there's scaffolding so I can just do different pulls-ups there.'

Never wanting to sit still, Kellan says he even exercises on his many flights around the world.

Speaking to the mag about getting into shape for Immortals, in which he plays Greek god Poseidon alongside co-stars Henry Cavill and Mickey Rourke, he said: 'I ate 16 eggs every morning.

'I got up to 220 pounds of solid muscle. We’d work out every day. Shooting one scene could take all day—and when that’s just driving a Humvee at five miles an hour, we had energy to burn.'

He went on: 'We were doing push-ups on top of the Humvees. We were throwing wheels and rocks. We were timing each other, betting who can do the most push-ups, just to keep our sanity.

'We did these [UFC fighter] Bas ­Rutten tapes, where it’s like, "OK, shadowbox! ­Defense! ­­Shadowbox! Drop to the ground!"

'Within 30 minutes, you’re dripping. And it’s Africa. So it’s hot as balls out there. We pushed each other to be the best we could be.'

While still maintaining a beefy physique, 6ft1 Lutz shed a few pounds of muscle for his Men's Fitness cover, weight in at 195lbs compared to his 220lbs peak.

His movie Immortals hits theatres in 2D and 3D on November 11.

Prince Harry may have been the most famous best man in the past week but Twilight actor Kellan Lutz definitely wins the vote for the sexiest.

The actor was showed that he looks as great in a suit as he does with his clothes off as assumed the important role at his brother's wedding at the weekend.

Lutz, 26, watched as his brother Brandon got married to Sarah Oriolo in Valencia, California in a beautiful outdoor wedding.


The wedding took place at the Lutz family home in front of 100 guests and Lutz looked dapper in his tuxedo with a matching yellow tie.

But he was not dateless for the event - his on-again, off-again girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord was also a guest.

The 90210 star arrived in a one-shoulder pink layered dress with matching heels to watch the nuptials, maybe thinking one day it will be her turn to officially join the Lutz family.

But she is no stranger to the clan as she actually hosted the hen party for Brandon's now wife at a pool part at Wet Republic.

The lucky bride looked ravishing in a strapless princess gown and carried a bouquet of yellow flowers - her bridesmaids also wore the same colour.

Last month AnnaLynne celebrated her 23rd birthday in Las Vegas with her sister and friends and also rekindled her on-off relationship with Lutz.

The pair famously split up twice last year but have decided to give it another shot.

McCord was spotted visiting the Twilight actor in Canada, where was filming the next instalment, titled Breaking Dawn.

Lutz plays vampire Emmett Cullen in the hit franchise, while AnnaLynne has also recently made a foray into the movie world by appearing in straight-to-DVD film Blood Out.

To keep with the nuptial theme, Lutz is starring in upcoming romantic comedy Love, Wedding, Marriage.

He plays a man who is about to tie the knot with a marriage counsellor, played by Mandy Moore.

But on the eve of the wedding, the best man drops the bombshell that Lutz's character had already had a wedding once before - information that his bride to be did not know.

Love, Wedding, Marriage hits theatres on June 3.
